Choosing a Venue For Your Party

No doubt you will have experienced the event where you have found yourself responsible for finding a suitable venue for a party. Just like when you are buying a house the old mantra of "location, location, location" applies here too. It is worth taking time and effort to find just the right venue as the quality, atmosphere and style of the venue will make the difference between a mudane party and one that people will talk about for years. It is important that the party location sets the tone and creates the atmosphere for the occasion. If you are something of a novice when it comes to party planning it is completely understandable that you might not know where to begin with the organising process. With that in mind here are a few pointers that will help to get you going.
Consider first the type of party that you are looking to organise. Once you have established whether it is a wedding, birthday, graduation, retirement or even a corporate function this will help to focus your planning. This will also help you to choose a venue as some locations or buildings will clearly be more suitable for certain occasions rather than others.
The geographic location of the venue is also a hugely important aspect of the party. There is no point in choosing somewhere that looks spectacular if it is in a remote location where your guests are likely to get lost trying to get there.
When you are making a shortlist of potential venues, enquire as to the capacity of each one as they should comfortably seat the number of people who are looking to attend your event. It is also important that the venue is well organised and scenic. If the venue staff are well versed at organising your type of event then they shouls have no trouble giving you advise on seating plans.
The weather will also play a factor in the organisation process. If you are looking to put on an outdoor event then see if the venue will also be able to provide a different area to put the party on in case of a sudden downpour.
If you are looking to hire some sort of entertainment such as a band or DJ then you must enquire as to whether the venue provides suitable audio visual equipment and lighting where required. This could get tricky if they don't as whatever entertainment has been hired must be appropriately insured and have a safety certificate for their own equipment.
It should go without saying that you should check that the venue will be available on the day of asking, but dont forget to take care of this trivial task as part of the planning process. Finally, make sure that you have fun! With all the work that goes into organising a party you are perfectly entitled to enjoy yourself as much as everyone else. Go round meeting and greeting guests and try to gauge their feedback as their opinions will be extremely useful if you find yourself having to organise a party in future!
