Being Flight Enthusiast, a friend of mine recommended ProFlightSimulator to me. I didn’t buy it; he used his copy to install for me on my PC. The software comes with multiple PC licences, so you can install it on as many computers as you wish. How cool!
My PC specifications are: Pentium 3.2 GHz processor and 2GB RAM. The two ProFlightSimulator DVDs take takes just 40 minutes to install. Upon installation, the menu pops up, and it’s the most realistic cockpit I have ever seen on a flight simulator.
How it beats competition
On going through the list of available aircraft and I was shocked, ProFlightSimulator has more than 120 aircrafts to choose from. What’s more, you can choose fly and airplane or a helicopter! I settled for the 1903 Wright Flyer because I wanted to see if it was possible to fly over my own roof in New Heaven and believe you me, I flew over my house. You can also add your own airports.
It doesn’t stop there, with ProFlightSimulator you can control the weather as you wish and watch your plane soar through clouds, wind, snow, rain or lightning. This flight simulation features a very detailed time modeling and can track your computers current clock time so that it can place the moon, sun or stars correctly. The moon, stars and sun all follow their courses correctly. What’s more, you have the freedom to fly anywhere in the world through the hot deserts of Sahara or through the Alps, the choice is all yours.
The added bonus of this simulator, that makes it distinct from other simulators, is the fact that it is based on OpenGL graphics rendering. This means the program is at you mercy to do any imaginable customization to it, yes anything.
This is the first commercial flight I have ever seen that gives you full control. This means you can create your own graphics like: airplanes, terrain or airports anywhere in the world. The customization and graphics are yours for the taking and are only limited to your imagination.
FlightSimulator flight simulation features highly detailed time of day modeling and can track the current computer clock time in order to correctly place the sun, moon, stars, etc. in their current and proper place relative to the earth.
You have 100% flight freedom to fly anywhere in the world. ProFlightSimulator maps the entire globe with actual MILITARY world data with stunning realism.
And if you want try Air-Air Refueling there are tanker aircraft and receiving aircraft capable of in-air refueling.
Negative review
The star features (at night) are less enhanced and therefore do not simulate the natural environment correctly. Other than that, it renders beautifully across clouds, mountains and the seas.
Conclusion
If you are truly a flight simulator fanatic, you better take a look at this program because if not, you are missing a lot. This is a must have for flight simulator game fans.
