Before, people had to buy several appliances for communication purposes. Telephones, fax machines, mobile phones, computers, radios, and televisions sets are just some of the gadgets that used to clutter every nook and cranny of a house. Most, if not all, of the functions of the abovementioned devices can now be done by the computer, thanks largely to the continuing advancement of the internet and technology. Uses for the computer have been expanding: you can now make phone calls and even send text messages using messenger programs; video conference calls, once a farfetched notion seen only in sci-fi stories, are now part of the norm and actually much preferred over expensive overseas phone calls; and you can even listen to the radio and watch TV channels online!
There are two ways to watch TV channels online for free. The first option is the free route wherein you can watch video clips for free on popular streaming sites. The second option is by utilizing satellite TV software program which would require you to pay a fee first before you can access the promised free TV channels.
A great number of people prefer the free route for obvious reasons. Who doesn’t like free stuff, after all? TV, movie, and music video clips are frequently shared on free streaming sites like Youtube and Dailymotion among others. Today, it’s not just short video clips; you can now watch your favorite television show or your favorite movie on these sites as well. These sites are everywhere so access to them is the least of your worries. The hard part is scourging the various broken links that you might find on these websites, especially since media companies have started cracking down on these sites that let you watch TV channels online for free due to copyright issues.
Media companies acknowledge that a large chunk of their viewers love free media. To keep their audiences happy without compromising their company’s stake on media copyright, several media companies have tied up with streaming sites that exclusively distribute their network’s material. Hulu for example sources their material from major US networks like NBC, Fox, Disney Channel, and many more. Today CBS has even put up its own website, TV.com, to compete with Hulu. The downside of these free sites is that only residents from the United States can have access to the hosted media.
You can also opt to download software that lets you access these channels. Most internet TV software packages require you to pay a fee first, though there are also free versions out there. The main draw of the internet TV software is that the required fee isn’t as high as opposed to the fees they pay for cable TV. For a low price, they can have access to various cable TV channels online anytime and anywhere. A lot of people don’t mind paying for this service since it’s not a recurring expense, and they can even save more money due to the fact that they don’t have to pay cable subscription fees anymore once they install the internet TV software on their PC/laptops.
